Quick Overview

‘Iran Forbidden Land’ incorporates many of the celebrated landmarks of central Iran, concentrating on Persian visual arts and architecture that flourished between the 10th and 17th centuries, culminating in the production of some of the world's finest works of Islamic art and architecture.
This was a period in which Persia, this time buttressed by a new religion based on a new revelation, continued to express its own distinct identity from within the Islamic empire. It witnessed the emergence of a new style of art and architecture, in which pre-Islamic themes were fully assimilated or transformed and purely Islamic forms were introduced and refined to utmost perfection. The period gave birth to an era of unparalleled innovation and set the standard for civilization throughout much of the Islamic world.
