‘Treasures of Persia’ incorporates many of the celebrated landmarks of central Iran.
From the ancient ruins of Persepolis, the ceremonial and spiritual capital of the vast Persian Empire, to the most famous relics of 18th and 19th Century Shiraz; from the city’s renowned gardens to the evocative tombs of the highest figures in classical Persian literature; from the 6th Century BC UNESCO World Heritage Site of Cyrus the Great’s capital of Pasargadae on to the historical city of Yazd with its magnificent 14th Century mosque, the amazing desert architecture with cleverly designed wind towers, and impressive structures such as the Zoroastrian Towers of Silence; and culminating in enchanting Isfahan, the monumental capital of 17th Century Safavid Persia and home to Iran’s finest works of Islamic art and architecture, the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Naqsh-i Jahan Square.

Day 01. TEHRAN
Arrive in Tehran. Morning to rest in the hotel. Afternoon visit to the archaeological section of the National Museum, and the Glass and Ceramics Museum. Overnight in Tehran.

Full day city tour of Tehran to include the Carpet Museum, Golestan Palace, lunch at a local restaurant, and the Crown Jewels Museum. Evening flight to Shiraz. Overnight in Shiraz.

Day 03. Excursion to PERSEPOLIS
Full day excursion to Persepolis, Naqsh-i Rostam, Naqsh-i Rajab, lunch at a local restaurant, back to Shiraz, and a visit to the Vakil Bazaar. Overnight in Shiraz.

Day 04. SHIRAZ
Full day city tour to explore the main highlights of the city of Shiraz, including the Eram Gardens, the Citadel of Karim Khan Zand, the Pars Museum, the Vakil Mosque, lunch at a local restaurant, the Nasir ol-Mulk Mosque, the Naranjestan Museum, and the tombs of Sa’di and Hafez. Overnight in Shiraz.

Drive to Yazd via Pasargadae, picnic lunch, stop en route at Abarkuh to see its 14th Century Jami‘ Mosque. Overnight in Yazd.

Day 06. YAZD
Full day city tour of Yazd to include the 14th Century Jami‘ Mosque, the shrines of Seyyed Rokneddin and Davazdah Imam, the Prison of Alexander, lunch at a local restaurant, the Water Museum, the Tekkeh of Amir Chaqmaq, the Dawlatabad Gardens, the modern Zoroastrian Fire Temple, and the Towers of Silence. Overnight in Yazd.
Drive to Isfahan. We stop en route in Maybod to see its mud-brick citadel, urban caravanserai, and Ice House. In Nain we stop at Mohammadiye to see the traditional wool-weaving, have lunch at the Nain Tourist Inn, visit the 10th Century Jami‘ Mosque of Nain and the Ethnological Museu, and then we drive on to Isfahan. Overnight in Isfahan.

Full day city tour to explore the monumental capital of Safavid Persia. We have the opportunity to visit most of the main attractions of Isfahan, including palace pavilions of Hasht Behesht and Chehel Sutun, Shahrestan Bridge, Khaju Bridge, Sio-Se Pol, lunch at a local restaurant, the monuments surrounding the vast Naqsh-i Jahan Square (including Ali Qapu Pavilion), the Shaikh Lutfollah Mosque, the Abbasi Mosque, and the monumental entrance to Qayssarieh Bazaar. Overnight in Isfahan.

Half day city tour of Isfahan to see the great 12th Century Jami‘ Mosque of Isfahan. Then we proceed on to the Armenian Quarter to visit Vank Cathedral, eat lunch at a local restaurant, and enjoy the rest of the day at Naqsh-i Jahan Square for shopping and dinner at a traditional restaurant. Overnight in Isfahan.

Drive to Tehran via Natanz to see its monumental portal to a Sufi shrine complex of the 13th Century and the 14th Century Jami‘ Mosque of Natanz. In Kashan we visit Tabatabai’s House and Borujerdi’s House, drive past Teppe Sialk, eat lunch at a local restaurant, and see the Fin Gardens. We continue to Tehran with a tea break en route and a photo stop at the Imam Khomeini Mausoleum. Overnight in Tehran.

Day 11. TEHRAN
Return flight to home.

NOTE: You will probably have to leave your home country on the previous day to arrive in the early morning on the first day. If flight arrives earlier or later than the rest of the group, private transfers are $75 per transfer. Extra nights at the hotel in Tehran for early arrival or late departure are $110 per person sharing a double room and $165 for a single room.
